OLV students participate in a wide variety of extracurricular activities that are both fun and help to build strong relationships with family and friends while teaching valuable lessons. Our school helps to further develop our children’s special talents and interests through extracurricular activities, including:
OLV’s annual Breakfast with Santa is held in December. A good time is had by all, partaking of wonderful food, talking to Santa, and finding presents for parents!
Classes are small at OLV, permitting more student involvement and contact with teachers. Emphasis is on traditional academic pursuits from an early age, rather than educational fads. Students are well prepared for the competitive academic environment they will face after graduation, as well as for engaging the social and political challenges of our time.
OLV also participates in community service projects such as Shepherd’s Table/Help the Homeless, to enable students to become more aware of the world around them and what they can do to help make it a better place.
A before and after school programs is available on days when school is in session. This program is supervised by OLV’s own teachers! Attendance is permitted on a monthly contract or a drop/in basis. Learn more about tuition & fees.
The annual OLV Father-Daughter Dance is held in the Spring. Fathers, daughters, and teachers enjoy a wonderful evening of dancing and refreshments!
OLV students have at their disposal a well-equipped library, and enjoy weekly library visits with age-appropriate material. They learn to use library facilities and resources properly. Visits to the local public library branch (only two blocks away) are also conducted regularly.
Fall Karate is now being offered at Our Lady of Victory. Mike Wholihan brings over 37 years of experience to his karate instruction and is a Master Instructor Seventh Degree Blackbelt. “I will be teaching your child with an emphasis on enhancing their listening skills, and ability to follow directions. My students also increase their concentration and develop motor skills through my martial arts program.” Karate classes are open to students first through eighth grade. You may register online at KCAMartialarts.com or call 301-593-8000 for more information.
OLV welcomes students of all denominations. Catholic religious instruction is given in the classroom by certified instructors. In addition to formal daily instruction, the religious program provides opportunities for students to practice and live their faith through participation in monthly and special liturgies, preparation for and reception of sacraments, and participation in social service activities.
OLV dads Dan Kerns, Mark Neustadt, Jim Lonergan, Pat Burke and Paul Aninos, have organized a Saturday morning basketball session for younger kids and league participation for older kids. This is a very popular program! Special thanks to Dan Kerns for allowing us to use the Georgetown Visitation gym!
