Recent Improvements at Our Lady of Victory School
Catholic Identity - faculty meet for daily prayer, sacred spaces in classrooms, adoration and benediction during Advent, Stations of the Cross during Lent, Rosary in May, 7th & 8th grade participate in Archdiocesan events such as Chastity Day, Rally for Life & Vocations Mass.
Physical improvement - new heating & air-conditioning system, new windows, fiber optic cable in place for future technology needs. Renovated Good Shepherd room used for reading and religion classes. Kindergarten classroom refurbished with new play equipment.
Math - New textbooks and supplementary teaching resources purchased Pre-K through grade 6. All 8th graders complete Algebra 1 in preparation for high school. Students participated in Archdiocesan Math contest.
Reading - $2,000 grant awarded to OLV for the purchase of multicultural books for the library. Implemented home reading program K-4. Employed additional teaching assistant to support reading instruction in the classroom.
Science - new microscopes for science lab, thanks to current 8th grade families.
Technology - new computer in every classroom & offices, some have two. Wireless capabilities added in the library and middle school. Set of laptops purchased for library. Additional computers for lab on order.
Spanish taught twice a week in Pre-K through 8th grade.
Additional after school activities - classics, chess, Tae Kwan Do, homework club, reading program, science enrichment classes.
CYO basketball - thanks to Dan Kerns and Dan Walsh for organizing.
Implementation of Values Program, Safety Patrols & Hot Lunch Program.
Swimming at the Lab School Pool during Gym class during April & May.
